I'M MARQUES.
I’m a UX Designer with over 10 years of experience collaborating with clients in both the private and public sector. I love to tackle design problems from a user-centered perspective and drill down to the heart of what a project needs based on user data and insights learned from research and testing. Coming from a background in illustration, I enjoy wireframing and prototyping so I like to stay up to date on the cutting edge of design tools. Work with me and let’s find solutions to your problems.
Past projects
Embedded with the AARP Digital Team, worked with stakeholders and development teams to help improve and create new designs for the AARP website and mobile app. Responsible for prototyping, wireframing, and interpreting feedback and metrics to help many different tracks in the AARP Digital Team. Led the UX for the Billing team working with them to help improve flows and prototype new designs as well as the redesign of the Game section of the site as they moved away from Flash. Also led the design of a new chatbot being developed, creating flows and researching best practices for how it should be interacted with. Worked closely with the Search team to improve their search experience and made sure designs were giving the relevant information to users. In these roles, worked very closely with the team stakeholders and the development teams to insure a smooth implementation of ideas.
Worked with DHS and TUXD to digitally transform the immigration system. This included both the ELIS website and web applications, which is the tool used by immigration officers to do their work, as well as the customer-facing website USCIS.gov where users can file forms online and find information about the immigration process. Led and supported a number of tracks supporting the needs of delivery teams with ideation, user testing, wireframing, and prototyping as well as heavily supported his team's efforts to build ELIS's new design system by creating components, coming up with standards, and working with development teams to implement them. In addition, he led the team responsible for his internal Axure library where they would create, update, and maintain components that his team used to build prototypes, and also led the Pull Request team that would review in progress code for new ELIS components submitted by developers to make sure they were consistent with their designs and standards.
Worked closely with HRSA Telehealth stakeholders to create, refresh, and update content across the Telehealth.HHS.gov website, improve usability through design, accessibility, and the use of best practices across the site and conducted studies to test and validate our updates. Created bespoke illustrations and icons for various areas of the website along with other graphics related requests. Produced 508 compliant PDF and Word document material for print and web as well as templates to streamline the production of deliverables and make sure they were accessible. In addition, supported the UX team with prototyping, wireframe design and ideation in Figma and contributed to designing new component standards as well as presented work to the client.
Came on to the project to fill in for another designer on leave. Onboarded quickly taking over design duties to design and create an app experience for both laptop and tablet use for in person medical events. Worked closely and communicated with the other designers and developers on the team as well as stakeholders to nail down requirements and design direction quickly. Created wireframes and prototypes in Figma for developers to reference as well as for user testing.
Worked with a team and stakeholders at the DOE to refresh and update the ED.gov website. Created wireframes for designs using the design system established as well as created new components to be added to it. Created prototypes and test questions for user testing, collated data, and reported findings from remote sessions. Helped maintain the design system library and prepared deliverables for the hand off of the project.
